Horrible? Not at all. Looks kind of the like the way Pinterest is set up, so it absolutely works. But I'm not a big fan of the color palette you've chosen for it. You don't necessarily need to choose a different color, but perhaps you could try other green colors, maybe some fresher green. Also, the pattern inside the search field looks wierd, maybe it would look better without it.

I like the simpleness of it all, but I'd remove the showcase slider and only keep it at the front page. And maybe stick to one slide effect instead of 4. But as a whole, nice and simple design
