Sport Relief - Anyone doing it?
Posted 7 Mar 2010
Hi everyone,
Looks like the girlfriend didnt forget that i did agree i would run the sport relief mile (going to kill me, hopefuully she doesnt get any ideas about entering me into a marathon next)
i dont think the mile is going to be too difficult, except my girlfriend has a habit of being fairly competitive and will be trying for a fast time, expecting me to keep up (which could be funny. IanC will agree im not the fittest person around)
Is anyone else doing it? What have you done to prepare?
If your not doing it, still feel free to sponsor me: http://www.mysportrelief.com/reaper - its all to a good cause.

Building websites for free
Posted 20 Feb 2010
Hi everyone,
Ive had a friend ask me if there is anywhere that he can actually go with a list of projects where you can build websites for either a percentage of profit, or for charity.
I know alot of people dont agree with people that are learning offering their services for free, but as he is trying to learn, i did agree i would see if i could find anywhere with a list of projects.
He is currently looking at charities and seeing if any of the local ones want a site, but there doesnt seem to be many around that want one or answer the emails (maybe all of the apprentices etc have already done them)
Thanks

Who do you bounce ideas off?
Posted 11 Jan 2010
I think the title says it all.
Im often finding that i am working on something, and need to bounce an idea (wether it be functionality, design or a new business move) off of someone, but it just ends up being random people on my msn, who may not actually have a clue.
I suppose this is all part of the freelance life.
What do you guys find the best way to get honest opinions is? -
When does it stop being a hobby
Posted 30 Dec 2009
Hi guys,
Was having a discussion with a friend, and we got into the topics of hobbies that make money.
For example: if i was good at painting, i could possibly sell the paintings OR if i had a pair of dogs, and they gave birth to puppies that i didnt need, i could sell them.
Chances are it wouldnt be a constant income, but where is the line drawn between a little bit of cash in hand for 2 paintings/a puppy through to it being classed as a business that needs to be declared for taxes.
(dont worry, i cant paint and dont intend to start breeding dogs, this is purely hypothetical)
If you are self employed, would it be better to list all of these as part of your income from the webdesign (give your paintings a website and say that as you own the website/paintings it is then part of your self employment) ?
Thanks

Games - Artificial Intelligence
Posted 24 Dec 2009
Hi everyone,
Ive been playing on the xbox a little bit more, now ive had some spare time, but im finding it incredibly annoying that alot of the games i play (halo 3, gears of war, gears of war 2, army of two, left4dead) are all designed to be played with 2/4 people, so as there never seems to be anyone online to pair up with, i end up with a computer next to me.
This is fine, if it wouldnt stop running into an enemy position with 200 guys shooting at it, for me to then have to go and save it.
Anyone here like co-op games that wants to play a few, feel free to put your gamertag down.
