Topics I've Started

Javascript Libraries vs. Do it Yourself
26 August 2011 - 02:56 PM
I guess I'm writing this just because I want to hear what the communities opinion is (but then again, that's the reason people write topics in the first place...)
I was reading this article the other day about writing your own javascript or using a library. After studying and using JQuery, I guess you can say I have this stubborn attitude about how the code technically isn't 100% mine (if I'm making any sense at all). I understand that libraries such as JQuery are basically built for convenience and as a result, provide means for efficiently creating javascript quickly, but dunno....
Yes, I like JQuery and how it can simplify javascript to some extent, but I guess I'm wondering: 1) Which of you people in WDF use libraries and which of you have a stubborn attitude like me, 2) Would you recommend learning a library (which I already have) or would you recommend typing code the hardcore way?
By the way, here's the link to the article I was reading.

Hi Again
16 June 2011 - 04:50 PM
Hey again.
For a while I used to be active on these forums, but then became inactive so I could make school and other things in life my priority. Now that I'm studying computing and web programming, figured I should come back and reintroduce myself since these forums really are the best that I've seen. So, hi.
At one point in time I would have considered myself pretty advanced when it came to web design and web programming.....but now I'm rusty. Over the next month I'll be rereading all of my books and references to refresh me. Still fluent in HTML/XHTML, but css is blurry, javascript looks foreign, and lets not talk about php and other server side languages
So, hey again and see you all around.
PS: forums look a lot different from when I was last here. nice
