  1. Other browsers might impliment -webkit-

    12 February 2012 - 10:45 AM

Has anyone seen this? There was a discussion about a week ago for other browser (Mozilla, Opera etc) to start implimenting -webkit-* styles because they have "no other option" - there are apparently so many websites out there (especially for the mobile web) that are webkit-only websites. Even though other prefixes exist and the styles work essentially the same, web authors don't tend to impliment them because their mobile market share is almost non-existant.

If you're looking for more information about the issue, start with Christian Heilmann's post about it - he's got a few useful links including the notes from the meeting?

What can we do about this? I think we should all be aware of this and flag it up whenever someone posts a link to a site or any code that only uses -webkit-* styles. Does anyone else have any thoughts?
  2. Can you show me something cool?

    11 August 2011 - 11:13 AM

    Hey guys.

Got an odd request and I need your help. A friend of mine is looking to get into web design and wants me to show her a few useful things in PHP, CSS or JavaScript. She's done a placement or two maintaining websites so I don't need to go through the definition of the <div> tag but I'm at a bit of a loss over what to show her.

    So far, my list is:
    • A crash course in jQuery
    • jQuery Validate

...but I'm not sure what else to demonstrate.

    Any ideas?
  3. Can we move the adverts?

    18 July 2011 - 06:03 PM

When viewing the forums, the advert is directly below the first post. I think we should swap these around as I never see the first post (in the General forum, this is the "Please read this first" thread). Does anyone else miss that post too?
