  1. You are right to scrutinise and be critical. It shouldn't take that long to look through the files really, and the more eyes on a project the better. I would honestly recommend posting the link, see what people think.
  2. Why not have a look through the code and see if there's anything dodgy in there? If you post the GitHub here I'm sure a few bods will have a look and help.
  3. This place used to be booming with up-and-coming experts and seasoned developers/designers. I remember great discussions and logging in multiple times per day to make sure I hadn't missed anything. Things are certainly different now, how do we revive WDF, I miss those days!
  4. Web designers looking for a new role please take a look: https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/646278654/ Belfast/London/Remote are all great 😀

  5. What does that bit.ly go to? Just looks like SPAM to me!
  6. Still on the hunt for a CraftCMS dev and now a Wordpress one too. Anyone looking for a contract?

  7. Any CraftCMS bods looking for work?

I generally prefer Next JS over basically anything these days, which uses React. I did recently have a similar project that was to build out components mainly used with a traditional server-side framework and I used Preact for that with the Preact Custom Element package. You get the same React API but you can mount a component anywhere in the DOM without having to use multiple calls to ReactDOM.render. It's the best of both worlds for server-side if you just want to sprinkle client-side interactivity into your app and the output is absolutely tiny. Also, if you know React, you already know Preact and Laravel Mix has support for it too.

Thanks Jack, I'm actually part way through Wes Bos ' advanced React course so I might actually use some preact on that laravel project, I hadn't thought of that! Nice one 😀

  9. Have a look into HTTP basic auth (or digest auth) as I think this will do what you want.
  10. It depends how you do it, there are plenty of web designers making £30k+ and many making £40k+ without any overtime. I dare say some are on even more than that. https://uk.indeed.com/web-designer-jobs
  11. Really? I don’t, as long as the designer understands that the website won’t be a pixel perfect match thanks to responsiveness.
  12. It looks like it went offline at the end of 2019 https://web.archive.org/web/20191221052612/http://www.ukwda.org:80/ I wonder what they've done with my data 🤔
  13. You'll need to learn git (https://git-scm.com/) so that you can clone the repository, branch off it, make your suggested changes and then make a merge request. Git is used across the whole industry and is incredibly useful anyway so it's worth investing time in. For what it's worth... you might want to also learn how to use Gatsby... build a website using it etc. before you start thinking about how to improve its core codebase. I recently completed Wes Bos' master gatsby course (https://mastergatsby.com/) and it was excellent - I picked up some non-gatsby specific tips too. I think it would be money well invested. This is what you end up building - https://slicks-slices-jamesnock.netlify.app/
  14. Do you know what... I'm actually SICK AND TIRED of your posts now. Your comments are offensive to every member on here when you describe our jobs in a derogatory way like that. We love what we do which is why we do it. If you don't love it then that's fine, go and do something else instead but stop hanging around here like a bad smell moaning about stuff all the time. Of all the industries in the world I can't think of a single other one where finding help and tutorials is easier. The barrier to entry is exceptionally low for web development yet you still keep complaining about it. You've been asking the same questions and been getting supportive answers for YEARS now and you've not acted on it. Go and get a non 'rat race' job that doesn't make you 'feel moody' instead because it's clear that your heart is not in it, and that's fine, go and put your efforts into something that you do love instead. We've all been very patient and helpful but it's about time some spoke up because enough is enough.
