I started getting interviews when I dumped all my video game-based sites and made Uploadie (uploader taken offline so don't try to upload anything. Just for show now)

Actually I am not a very creative person, so designing is a headache for me. And if I am able to bag a good job only on my coding skills, I'll never go into designing!

Oh yeh web devs have no problem getting jobs.

I'm both a designer and developer. I got a pretty good job in London a few months ago as a designer, now I'm having to leave, but got a better job in London as a developer.

We were all made redundant and the other designer (who can't develop) hasn't been able to find a new job and he's having to learn to develop.

I don't think it's fair to say developers can't design and designers can't develop. It is possible and you'll be much more valuable having a range of skills.

It's lost on Americans though. Didn't realise 'natter' isn't a word over there.
