    I'm a big fan of Wordpress and have used it for many websites.

    But in this scenario you're trying to put a square peg in a round hole, as Wordpress really isn't up to it. You need a CMS that has User account management built-in, and can deal with different types of content.

    I've used Drupal to build this sort of website. Others may suggest joomla, which is pretty good, but for me Drupal just about edges it.
