About Me
My name is Luke, I'm twenty years old, and from Bristol.
I started learning and practising web design and development for one main reason: I want to completely revolutionise the way people learn foreign languages online. Why do I want to do this?
Well, I used to study Japanese a few years back, and it took up a huge part of my life. I'm not sure why, but my motivation began to die a couple of years into it, and eventually I decided to stop trying to get myself back into it. I still have a huge soft spot for Japan, its people, culture, and language, though, and it's this passion that has created a dream for me.
I hate that my motivation died; because I loved learning the language. I was a hugely active member of YesJapan.com, which is easily the best place to learn Japanese online (believe me, I've been on almost every site remotely related to learning Japanese), and I want to go on to create the next best online learning portal for the language, with one main aim; keeping everyone motivated. For more information, visit Japanalearn.com.
So that's my main goal; which naturally, is going to take years to achieve. I want to do pretty much all of it myself, so I need to learn up to an advanced level of PHP, have an amazing grasp on design, and spend a hell of a lot of time putting it all together. Until that dream becomes a reality, I'm looking at doing freelance web design and development work to get hands on experience.
I'd love to talk with fellow web designers and developers. If you add me on Facebook, Xbox live or whatever, include a message letting me know you're from WDF, or I'll more than likely decline it (too many foreign weirdos add me on things these days).
