Google decides on WDFs best member
Posted 12 May 2010
I accidentally typed WDFs address in the Google search instead of the URL bar and to my surprise it seems Google has a favourite WDF member and links to their portfolio in its list categories:

Photochop challenge v2.2

Photochop challenge v2.2
As there is no longer a photoshop section to the forum I think this is the best place for this challenge now.
This is a very simple little game for anyone who wants to join in and has an image editor. The idea is simple take the last image posted and add your own little bit to it, then repost it so that someone else has can have a go. This way we will create a group collage
The Rules, please read and follow them:
- Do not resize the original image, make sure you save the full sized image and not the thumbnail.
- Use the last image posted so that no image gets left out.
- Images can be taken from anywhere on the net, but must be of reasonable enough quality (so no pixlated stretched images please)
- The image doesn't have to be photo real, use cartoons or whatever you want, as long as the quality is good

- Save the file in Jpeg format for better compression without losing too much colour depth
- Images should be cut off their backgrounds
- Only add one thing at a time, and do not completely paste it over someone else's edit, you can over lay it a little if you want, just don't fully cover someone else's work on the image
- So that only one person is working on the image at a time you must post saying that you are editing the image before you start, then you have 30 mins from that post to post your edited version of the image, otherwise someone else can take over. This way everyone who worked on it will have their image included, rather than lots of people working on it at the same time. Also edit your original post rather than adding a new one once you have edited the image.
- Always take the last image posted, so check the thread

- Have fun with it, be creative and lets see what we can come up with

If you need an example of how it works then check out this thread:

If you would like to suggest a background for the next challenge then Click here to send me a PM
So here it is the image for this one, Enjoy

Jquery News ticker
Posted 15 Feb 2010
I'm using liScroll news ticker on a site but have a slight problem, I need this to be a seamless in that once the last one shows up the first one follows right away. As at the moment what this does is as soon as the last one shows it waits until it has disappears till it shows the first one again, so it creates a huge gap between last and fist.
So I was hoping someone could have a look and see if there is a way to have it working the way I need it to and my knowledge of Javascript and Jquery is very limited
Thanks
the link again encase it was missed in the main text:

The Ye'olde Tavern
Posted 23 Jan 2010
Well as the The bar is now somewhere in the depths of this forum, I have decided to build a new watering hole for you drunken designers.
Toilets to the left just past the staff room over there. The bar is straight a head of you and is stocked with every drink possible. terydinho and SamG are your barmen, don't let their short skirts and low cut tops put you off, they know the recipes for ever cocktail there is.
wizely,BlueDreamer , ErisDS and Helen are the entertainment, yes that is wizely in the bright red PVC outfit.
So to celebrate, drinks are free for the entire weekend, so drink up, enjoy the entertainment, but please don't spam or I will be forced to make you clean the floor with your tongue

Tips for Newbies and Oldies
Posted 21 Jan 2010
We have so many great designers, developers, copywriters, seo experts and so on that I thought it would be nice to start this thread...I have no idea if it will work but hopefully it will, but I have turned it into a sort of game in hopes that only the best advice will be placed in here.
The question:
If you could give one tip, one bit of advice or one website, to do with web design and development what would it be?
Now this can be targeted at people just starting out, those that have been doing it for years or both.
The Rules of this thread:
yes I know boring but here they are anyway:
- you can only post once in this thread, I repeat one post per member in this thread
- in your post you can only post one bit of advice, be it a website, a tip, a tutorial, it doesn't mater.
- Post that simply agree with other peoples posts will be seen as spam and deleted, if you like someone's tip show them by using the little + button at the bottom of their post and giving their post credit as a good tip.
- Even if you are giving a tip you still mustn't say that you like any of the other tips or quote a different tip, again if you like a tip show it by using the + button
- if it is a website it must only be one website, that's right you cannot advice they visit lots of websites just one
- read through the other posts and try and give something different, that way you haven't wasted your turn.
- If you think a tip or bit of advice deserves being chatted about in more depth make a new thread for it and link to it within your post (this link is excluded from rule 5, so you can link to your created thread + the website if you wish)
I know that its a bit of a demanding thread but I thought that it might be a nice resource for members new and old to look at without having to go through a lot of "I agree post, and also mean it is only the best advice from some of the best as well
Plus it might create some interesting threads of discussion.
- you can only post once in this thread, I repeat one post per member in this thread

06 Aug 2009 - 19:25I'm not working with web-design any more. Hence my absence. But it's still a passion of min, so it's stuck as a hobby. Got a boost of inspiration to a new website project I've been planning for a while now. Sure miss doing this kind of work.
What you doing now? Freelance?
