In Topic: Anyone here done web design placements and got any tips for searching?
22 January 2012 - 03:47 PM
Have you talked to the university about it, if this is a requirement for your course and years before you have had to do it then chances are they could give you a list of places that have accepted placements in past years.
But getting a placement at a web design company can be really hard no matter where you are located, so good luck. -

I agree its very much quantity over quality when it comes to setting up profiles on sites... I don't know if you can remember the mad rush last year when people all signed up to get their username on dabble.in and at the time it was just a splash screen with no indication of what it actually did or was going to do.
Although I will say from when I joined Zerply to now they are really trying to make it a useful resource for networking with other design types. -

I agree with othelloRob, just because you assumed something doesn't make it fact, if it states in the T&C that you need to give at least 35 days notice then you need to give 35 days or more notice of your intent to cancel.
Its not unreasonable for a company to request notification of a termination, and if you clicked the I agree with the T&C when you signed up with them then they aren't going to care if you used any of the hosting space or not, all they care about is that you follow your end of the contact that you agreed to...however fair or unfair it may be. -

I don't really do much on it, I set up my profile on it when it first got started and didn't really touch it since recently. I was quite surprised by how much it had grown and changed, so who knows in the future as it develops more it could be a nice little bit of promotion, but as of right now I haven't had anything from it. -
In Topic: w3schools why the hate?

brightonmike, on 21 January 2012 - 04:20 PM, said:I think some criticisms have been justified but at the same time I think some people care a little too much.
Sometimes caring a lot is a good thing as it shows how truly passionate someone is about a subject
In the case of w3schools I'm with oakleaves on this, the fact that in a way the name of the site can be misleading those just starting out and they try to sell certificates that have no real merit, if they make a mistake then people will come down on them hard...after all they are in a sense setting themselves up for the backlash.

06 Aug 2009 - 19:25I'm not working with web-design any more. Hence my absence. But it's still a passion of min, so it's stuck as a hobby. Got a boost of inspiration to a new website project I've been planning for a while now. Sure miss doing this kind of work.
