  1. Purchased a few books!

    14 December 2011 - 10:50 PM

So, today I got paid, currently unemployed so only jobseekers allowance. However, rather than spending my £100 on stupid **** (though I probably shudda got some more christmas presents), I've purchased a few books.. Any thoughts or recommendations on any other books worth having? From the reviews these seem OK but what do you guys think!?

  2. Designing & Art...

    14 December 2011 - 12:41 AM

I have an ambition to become a web designer (html, css, branding, logo design, etc), but I was never any good at art. In fact, I was pretty bad at art.

I have experience in photoshop, making creative signatures for people on forums, etc, but not had much creating web design.

Anyways, was thinking of buying a few books, but should I be discouraged by not being a good artist, or is this a totally different thing (good artist as in cannot draw)..

    Thanks!
  3. Starting web design!

    13 December 2011 - 11:51 PM

Hey guys, I've got into web design a few times before. Learnt the basics of photoshop, etc, got better with that over the years, learnt a bit of html/css, etc.

Just wondering, I am wanting to get back into it, but I have some queries. I get to the point, after around a month or so, that I feel I am no longer progressing. Maybe it's because I am just not progressing as much as when you first start, but I dunno. I get to that point where I can make a semi-decent website, then eventually get bored and it just fades out of my life as easily as it faded in.

So, I decided to step it up this time. I'm considering buying these 3 books:

Would this be a good buy? Yes, I'm interested in being a designer not a developer.

Also; what else would I need to do? Any good books on CSS/HTML and web layouts with the languages side of things?

    Thanks!!
  4. Developing my skills

    07 August 2011 - 05:25 PM

I've been practicing my skills with HTML/CSS alately, currently got my site up: karlcowell.co.uk

Just wondering will wordpress help my progress my skills and will experience with wordpress help me get clients?

    Thanks,
    Karl.
  5. Web development/design - FREE!

    30 July 2011 - 11:39 PM

Hello. I'm currently getting to the advanced stages of html/css, can now set up decent pages and know a lot about positioning, etc.

I'm decent at photoshop already, used it years ago and I've been practicing now.

Anyways, enough, basically I'm wanting to get some experience, maybe improve my CV/Portfolio a little and get into the world of design/development.

So, anyone needing some work or help doing let me know I'll do what I can (I'm constantly learning so I'm hopefully wanting to move onto jquery/javascript (front-end).

    Thanks,
    Rja.
