That said; No, WP isn't a tool. It is the site. If you make a website in wordpress it is a wordpress site, if you made it on your own server you could export it to the clients, but you might find it easier to just make it on the clients.
If the client wants something editing on the website it would already have to be wp if you wanted to edit it the wp way.
you might think i was stupid [or ignorant] in starting this thread in the 1st place, but as wp has never been fully explained in the past. i know how to design etc using 'The Site' but never could get me head round using it for client work, now i understand its for personal work, portfolio's etc. -

Otherwise there is little point using a CMS as regular HTML/CSS would do the job fine.
For me, if a client want's a CMS based site using WordPress, i do the following...
- Initial Consultation with client to flesh out design plans
- Design site as is normal proceudre and have signed off by client.
- Build working static version of site
- Convert to WP using my personally developed bare bones theme.
So basically wp is not for building client sites, but editing them? - Initial Consultation with client to flesh out design plans

I develop all my CMS sites on my local using http://www.apachefri...g/en/xampp.html
it allows you to run everything as if it was a server so you can test without having a live site. Is that what you were after?
Do designers use wp to work on clients projects and if so what's the step by step process of this please because I designed a site by other means ie hand coded css dreamweaver ps fw etc etc I would most probably ftp the complete files/folders over to the clients server, how is wp good for this and how and what's the process.. Please? -

If that is the case I'd suggest digging through the stock one that comes with it and see where things change. That's how I learned
no lol .. Scenario: a client comes to me and wants a web page, i decide to use wp as im thinking it would be quicker etc to design this site using what many have told me is great for web design.HOW do i go about this.. ive only edited and designed using wordpress on my own domain... you see im a bit in the dark as to know the process of how a designer goes about using wordpress to design a clients site.. just in laymens terms please.. maybe im missing something.
Thanks -
