  1. An extremely probable embarrassing quesion from a newbie

    Posted 12 Jul 2009

I am very new to design hence the title, and thus far have only used a cms (joomla) to create a site for the business i work for. It is apparently ideal for there needs as they do not need any basket or anything like that. All is ok at the moment but i know i got to get into html etc at some point. My question is when i purschased my webspace i got a thing called fantastico which had lots of software , joomla , mambo and loads more to choose from. From there you install and your away. As im doing this with joomla i know i probably need to look at this package...dreamweaver. Thats all fine but joomla was already built in and i go to my admin with a link. Hows this work....im slightly lost. Do you code it in dreamweaver then upload with ftp client such as filezilla. I want to learn things properyl and not live and work with just cms, as i know its wrong.

  3. Website Feedback please

    Posted 12 Jul 2009

Hi guys a short time ago i started a website similar to this and got a fairly positive feedback. If you be so kind id like you to take a look at this see what u think and be totally honest once more. I will be selling this site to the existing company i work for, benefit for me is its a family member who runs it. I do want it to a good standard though and professional look.
    Anyway let me know...www.nt-uk.com

    Much appreciated

  4. Please Help cms and out of depth maybe?

    Posted 6 Jul 2009

I displayed my website roughly one month ago and was satisfied with the attempt thus far. Yesterday i spent some time checking keywords and this meta data thing. I reworked it so it suggested things relevant to what my website does etc,as you are supposed to. This morning i went onto the site and home was fine. clicked onto a tab into the main menu and it displayed a white page, with black text, completely incorrect from what should be there. After checking the joomla forums i have found myself only making the situation worse and to the stage where i couldnt get onto the admin area of my site....so i deleted the whole thing in a fit of rage (probabley wrong of me). It has been interesting learning joomla so far ( a little frustrating) and i probably only scratched on the surface but before i go on i would like to maybe check into and ask some advice as to what step do you think would be a smart move. Should i check another cms such as mambo/ drupal or maybe something completely different . The kind of site i am creating is for a fair sized agricultural business with prob in excess of 500+ products(yes lots of articles). They are a manufacturing company and are lunching new products month after month. There current website is dated and although i started this as a bit of a hobby and to learn something new i feel i may have bitten off more than i can chew with the shear size of the company. As a first site starting again after the 1st flop i would request your input/ suggestion before going hammering into it. So to clarify the question once more..what sort of cms for the above would you recommed?, any other pointers also...

This is my grandfathers company by the way and i have plenty of time at the moment.

    regards
