In Topic: SSL - Do I need it?

Would the site include the user logging in? If so, I would recommend SSL for the login pages as packet sniffing is very common. Then if its available, you may as well use it on the page that the personal information is submitted from. -
In Topic: New domain name - your thoughts please!

I wouldn't suggest not using a generic name, as its all about how you make it yours, but you need to evaluate the current keyword competition of the name. As in this example, say you went with ezpzinternet.com, you need to consider:
1. How long it would take your domain to rank above the current web host, who currently occupy the first 3 rankings for 'ezpz internet'.
2. For the time it took to achieve point 1, how many customers have you lost to the competing company.
3. What is the likelihood of your customers searching for an even shorter version of your company name such as 'ezpz' - in which case, it will take even longer to rank near-to/above the current competition.
My advice would simply be, don't pick a name that means you need to compete with the above 3 points. -

Interested to see your script, but it didn't seem to attach. Have you got a link to it? -

Hi Paul, any particular reason why you chose 'ezpz' related domains? ezpzhosting.co.uk are quite an established host already and will most likely trump any 'ezpz' related searches that your customers/visitors would use to return to your site. -
In Topic: Is it possible to run a sub folder on a different server

Not strictly true, this is just how control panels such as cPanel manage it by default (I personally recommend the path of /home/user/subdomain/ instead of /home/user/public_html/subdirectory/ - to prevent your subdomain being accidentally crawled as domain.com/subdomain. cPanel allows you to do this).

We currently have a client running a subdirectory off another Linux server. So, domain.com goes to server1, and domain.com/subdir/ goes to server2. This is done by mounting the subdirectory to a path on server2. They wanted this method to expand on their storage without changing their current file structure.
However, I have no experience with Windows servers and therefore could not comment if this was possible on the setup you have. Though as a minimum, I can't see this being possible in a shared hosting environment.
