captcha - any good ones?

I have used the standard captcha before. However this seems to be quite difficult to read and have too many characters. It can put people off signing-up.

Does anyone know of any alternatives?

Anyone know of any nice looking hit counters out there I can add to my site?

All the ones I have searched for look ugly, with huge text and strange fonts.

Hi,

I'm having a problem with my fonts in a JQuery book. The text on the pages on the left hand side look perfect, but the text on right hand side turn a bit strange (but only in IE).

Any ideas why this is happening and what I should be looking for?
