For me it was between TruePresence and PixelDeath - they are both fantastic sites but in the end I had to go with PixelDeath because I saw Cerven (Curvball) build it from the ground up and know how much attention to detail and passion he put into it.

I remember seeing it when he had just started and thought that it would never work but I am amazed to see how wrong I was and that his several weeks of hard work have paid off :)

Yep - it's got to be Curvball's PixelDeath - the first time I saw it on the review thread I loved it! I did um and ah over a couple of the others, but PixelDeath had already grabbed my vote! Good sites from all. :good:

True presence for me, yo. ;)

I've always been a fan of large, simplistic, chunky layouts... especially when they work in IE6. :)

Yea, IE 6 is a pain. But I think it is really important that sites work well across all the common browsers.

nice sites

only 2 are non-agency/ portfolio sites(unless my arithmetic is off)

is your own portfolio site the majority every month or just this time (of course its also down to the shortlist)?

Congratz all. Tough choice and all very good sites.

Really nice to see the trend for using the full browser - stretching the banner and footer and using a centred wrapper seems in vogue. Something I've been experimenting with.

One thing I found difficult across most sites was the sheer weight of 'repeated content', links to every social networking site in the universe, links to another blog or article on 'how to do this in web design' , repeated links in footers and within content areas to stuff that's already linked in the main navigation. If anything I think it's overkill and detracts from the main content...felt a bit like self perpetuation/justification and perhaps unnecessary when the designs and one off content was so good.

Can't help feeling from a usability perspective and for a clean aesthetic that it'd be better to keep it minimalist and avoid the clutter.

My site is guilty of this. Purely because I haven't written the "learn more" pages yet, I need to get a copywriter to look at them. They will eventually be detailed descriptions of the services. For now I have just linked them to the contact page.

Cheers for the votes so far everybody - much appreciated. Some great sites again this month, good to be in such good company:)

Thanks to those of you who commented on my site - the aim was to create something a little different, so I guess I achieved my goal regardless of whether I win or not...

...already got my entry for September lined up :D

I'm going to show some love for Badmotherz primary school site. As previously mentioned most of the other sites are for the webdesigner themself, so they are free to experiment and make changes on the fly.

The primary school site is great looking, simple, well put together with WP and has the added hurdle of having to be approved by an external client...no small thing.

btw, it's better than cabbagination too :pp

So please leave this thread to be about the members who made it to the shortlist and about their websites, stop spoiling it for them.

Sorry for causing the debate, other thread is closed but I should have really checked the link first :pp.

Anyway I think I said already but I voted for Acuity, I love the simplistic look mixed with the vector work and the content is brilliant too.

My vote went to Paul Boreham for his website. i loved the idea of this being his personal website, and having personal space and additions to it, aswell as trying to use it in the traditional promote yourself professionally sense. very clean and appealing to the eye and a well laid out design.

good work Paul and congrats to everyone who made the shortlist! B)

I know I'm still a newbie on this forum, but I still find it incredible that everyone comments on who they've voted for while the voting is still going on.

I think that valid points about the sites and their design, or constructive criticism is to be expected but comments like "I voted for site x" don't make sense.

I hope I'm not disrupting the flow of the force in here or anthing deep like that, but just felt that I needed to voice this.

The work that goes in to these sites of the month is great and I'm hoping that one day I'll produce something that I feel is worthy of your eyes.

Keep up the good work!

What I do not like about competitions, is how they fail to recognise ad reward those who come in second place. I really think a runner-up shoud recieve monetary reward for their obvious effort. This board is another tragic example of societies emphasis on being number one and nothing else will do. It disgusts me.
