I am making a website and I need to create a kind of small search engine.
People are going to fill up the fields and find a job, house or whatever in relationship with what they typed.
I am taking inspiration from monster.com
I just want to know if there is any way to make it work, if I need to use PHP or mySQL or If you guys know a tutorial that I can use.
I really need help with this. Pleaseeeee.

Hello

You can make this work with Flash/php + mysql. A book that I've found useful as a starting point is
http://www.amazon.com/Flash-PHP-Bible-Matt...e/dp/0470258241 - its along way from being the best book in the world, but shows you how to connect Flash Cs3 to php + mysql, but I had to google a few times to clarify one or two points. If you have a good working knowledge of php, that shouldn't be a problem. The Flash parts are well explained.

If you google php search engine, you will find a whole load to choose from. You could also try posting about php search engines in the Server side/php part of this forum. A book that contains some useful php scripts, including search engine + a login is : http://www.amazon.com/PHP-MySQL-Create-Mod...9234&sr=1-1
I like the picture on the front - you just know you can trust the guy.

Security is an issue with php, so : http://www.amazon.com/Essential-PHP-Securi...9344&sr=1-1
is a useful read.
