My client wants to restrict some of his content to a free membership, and NOT using double opt in.

He then wants each new membership to trigger a series of emails

I have downloaded a bunch of plugins, but if someone can recommend a Wordpress membership plugin that will do the job, it'll save me (and my client!) lots and lots of hours

Anyone have any experience with this?

Cheers

John

The membership bit is easy. The email bit isn't.

There are marketing tools that will do this but they aren't free. The one a client of mine uses costs $99/month. The alternative is to use a mailing service, this is a lot cheaper and simpler.

Sorry digger, I was after some hard info - your advice is too vague for me. Have a great day...

Let me explain a bit more.

Wordpress can't do the marketing emails for you. Plugins only work when you are using the site which means you need an external service to send the messages. There are a number of companies that offer this service (like mailchimp) or you need to build your own. However it's not reccomended that you send the emails from your own server - especially if it's shared hosting.

Take a look at infusionsoft: https://www.infusionsoft.com. They offer very good Wordpress integration.

What kind of emails do you want to send when a user signs up?

A couple of the plugins I've looked at are nicely integrated with Mail Chimp and others, and anyway I'm comfy extracting the data from the site's database.

I'll probably then upload them to Mail Chimp myself as I'm already happy with it from past jobs.

My main thing is to save time testing a whole bunch of plugins, hence, "My client wants to restrict some of his content to a free membership, and NOT using double opt in."
