In my little experience to date it depends on what your website is about, if it's a 'I want one of those' sites then pintrest users will spread links to your content, a bit like a 'share' or 'retweet'. If it's a website about cakes for example then I found pintrest works wonders, however an accountant has limited pintrest appeal :D

The flip side is to make your own pintrest board (like a facebook page) and link to content you like from yours and other sites of interest. It's like most social media channels, it's all down to how much time either you or your client can input into each social media channel.

The niche of your website has a huge impact on whether or not you will do good with Pinterest. Obviously having interesting images on your website is a must. Example: I have a web and graphic design blog, so it's all about images and with Pinterest having a well followed design section, my site does pretty well with it. So, again, it's all about your niche.

Pinterest is all about image sharing, if you want to use it effectively then share attractive images with users. Create several board related to your products. Like other pins, comments on other pins,

Pinterest defines itself as “an online pinboard”. It's a place where you pin (mostly) images and other stuff you find interesting and share them with the world. Similarly to the other social networks, you follow people and have followers. Also, other users can repin your pins, thus spreading the word.

Pinterest is a fresh instrument to promote your business. If you have some unique images to share – that's is exactly what you need. But remember that first you need to build an audience, gain followers. Post some interesting content and gain their trust. Only after that you can start to promote your business or products.

Pinterest Pr4omotion Rules:-

1. Reward Quality Links over Quantity .

2. Get Involved with clear and simple instruction .

3.Create a board based on that holiday and label it with a board name, description and category.

Make it easy to get involved with clear and simple instructions. - See more at: http://www.sociallys...h.FotlrGVy.dpuf
Do: • Remember that Pinterest is all about people discovering things that inspire them. Reward quality pinning over quantity. • Make it easy to get involved with clear and simple instructions. • Read Pinterest’s anti-spam measures to keep your contest fun and useful. • Check out  Pinterest’s branding guidelines if you’re going to reference Pinterest in any way. Don’t: • Suggest that Pinterest sponsor or endorse you or the contest. • Require people to pin from a selection—let them pin their own stuff. • Make people pin or repin your contest rules. This turns people away from the contest.  • Run a sweepstakes where each pin, repin, board, like or follow represents an entry. • Encourage spammy behavior, such as asking participants to comment. • Ask pinners to vote with pins, repins, boards, or likes. • Overdo it: contests can get old fast. • Require a minimum number of pins. One is plenty. - See more at: http://www.sociallys...h.FotlrGVy.dpuf

Just little thinking, Pinterest can also help to build links for your website thereby contributing to traffic generation. You can use the Pin It button on all your website pages as each of the pins include a link back to your site.

To use pinterest effectively for social media marketing do the following things :-

1. Create Pin boards of differenct categories of your products or services. Be specific to each of your Pin boards. Don't create a wide range of   pin boards of services or products that you don't provide.

2. Pin pictures daily to those pin boards and share them on other social media networks.

3. Follow big organisations in your niche on pinterest and you will get follow requests from some of their followers.

4. Use some free tools like infogr.am to create nice infographics and share them on your pinterest profiles.

5. Make use of Pin in button on your website or blog.

6. Use the analytics tool of Pinterest to get the traffic estimation within your site and pinterest.

Pinterest is largely used by women, mostly Millennial Moms, according to a research study by Ahology and AcuPOLL Precision Research, Inc. With this in mind, it’s important that you use that information to determine if you should spend time on marketing via Pinterest. If your typical customer demographic is primarily male, your marketing efforts would probably be better spent somewhere else. And if your business caters to women between the ages 15-29, you should definitely create a presence on Pinterest.

Pinterest is different than your small business’ Facebook page, where a hodgepodge of information is posted in chronological order, rather than in order of importance or by topic. By allowing you to create multiple boards—one for each category of your products or services, for example—Pinterest helps keep users engaged not only in your general content, but in content that’s specific to their interests. According to the Ahalogy/AcuPOLL study referenced above, 52 percent of daily Pinterest users have pulled up Pins on their mobile devices to guide their in-store purchase decisions. So, make it easy for them!

I find that Pinterest and Instergram are taking over for me as opposed to Facebook and Twitter. Certainly there is a large response to web design related graphics. Especially as Twitter is getting so spammy.

Well firstly you need to understand the main idea of it. If people are going to facebook to chat with their friends and share the latest news, Pinterest is even more for visual entertainment. If you relaly want to grab the attention of Pinterest users - you need to be good at providing high quality images that are of course related to what you are doing. That's the first thing that people will look at using this social media platform.

Pinterest is a social network that allows users to visually share, and discover new interests by posting (known as 'pinning' on Pinterest) images or videos to their own or others' boards.

I believe that you can automate everything using Tailwind and Boardbooster, and the real secret to getting traction is well-optimised descriptions on vertical rich pins, and joining a lot of group boards with a lot of members.
