Hi there,

I'm hoping someone here may have had some experience with this kind of project.

I've been asked to add a "members area" to an existing Wordpress website. My client runs a private education organisation (for children with learning difficulties), and is looking to create an area for her staff and clients (the childrens parents) to interact.

She has given me a brief outline of the main functionality that she requires. There is no cost to join the site, but it's only for clients and teachers/trainers (her staff), so access will be restricted to those people and managed by my client.

This is a rough overview of the required functionality:

ADMINISTRATOR

- Administrator access to all content, both from teachers/trainers and parents.
- Ability to approve/deny registrations.
- Ability to edit/manage/delete profiles when necessary.

TEACHERS/TRAINERS

- Can easily create a personal profile that can be accessed (from the front end) by parents group.
- Ability to update this profile easily.
- Ability to post schedule/times available (calendar functionality, preferably).
- Ability to browse parent profile listings.

PARENTS

- Can easily create a personal profile that can be accessed (from the front end) by teachers/trainers, but not visible to others in the parents group.
- Ability to update this profile easily.
- Ability to browse teacher/trainer profile listings.

So far I've downloaded BuddyPress and WP Member (http://www.wp-member.com/), but finding both of them confusing. If someone can give me an indication of which one I should be focusing my efforts on, that would be a massive help. Alternatively, if there's another plugin that would be better suited to my needs, I'd love to hear about that too.

Thanks so much, in advance.

Cheers,

Chris

You could try User Access Manager but I don't know how easy it is to use. Anyway it seems to fit your criteria.
