Hi,

I know there are a million of these topics, but I'm just looking for a little advice. I wanted to create a very simple logo for my Photography business. I currently shoot mainly cityscapes and do some corporate and event work (not weddings!) and then sell prints and postcards.

I wanted a simple design that's easy to read and will be for use on a website and business stationary.

Here's what I've come up with anyway. Any advice (including throw them all out and start again) gratefully accepted.

Thanks!

I prefer number 2, as you will still be able to see the word "igo" if it was reduced in size, whereas in 3 & 4 it would probably disappear. I'd loose the effects from number 2 though, and the frame. It would be a tidy enough logo if you just used the text and perhaps the border you've used in number 3.

Number 1 is good but don't use the lens flare as a part of the actual logo.

I quite like the simplicity of number 4, not only that but you can use number 4 as a watermark to place over your photo's and you wouldn't be able to do that as successfully with the other 3.

Fixed for ya :)

The first one is the best if you leave just the text. A logo should be able to work in black and white, and adding effects in photoshop does not make a logo better (but can make them worse).

Thank you for the advice. I'm glad I wasn't laughed out of the forum with my basic attempts :)

So I've taken your advice and gotten rid of any effects and stuck with simplicity.

I can't decide between the 'igo' direction yet, as the smallest I would probably need it would be for business cards (so I think it would be readable still). But here is the basic design, and the logo I'll use on labels, watermark, etc.

Hopefully this is a better attempt.

Still the first one. Definitely not the shutter, it's overused.

Thank you for your input,

I should have explained a little better - The full written design will be used on the website/business cards/stationary. The circular shutter design was the one I was going to use on the circular packaging stickers from Moo and also as my watermark. But I shall now rethink it.

Thanks again!
