I'm creating this WordPress theme I'm using four main divs and one wrapper. I've placed all the section inside the wrapper as absolute positioning so they don't effect each other if people add extra sidebar content footer menus and so forth.

I'm asking from a markup point of view is this overkill or might there be a more natural way to layout the content within a div without destroying the flow, like I believe I'm doing.

Absolutely no need for absolute positioning there :lol:

Try something along the lines of:

<style type="text/css">
.wrapper{margin:0 auto;width:960px}
.left{float:left;width:340px}
.posts{float:right;width:600px}

.clear{clear:both}
</style>

<div class="wrapper">

<div class="left">
  <div class="header">
    Header
  </div>
  <div class="sidebar">
    Sidebar
  </div>
</div>
<div class="posts">
  Posts here
</div>
<div class="clear"></div>
<div class="footer">
  Footer here
</div>

</div>

I think we should have a 'Clear Floats' sticky thread at the top because 90% of problems on this forum are float related! :lol:

Similarity of pose between your avatar and your smiley is killing me.
