Hello,

I'm new. I'd love some feedback on my website design website. I'm a fan of a simplistic style, anyhow let me know what you think - just drop a comment here and I'll PM you the website address :-) ( I'm hesitant/nervous about this appearing in search results).

Thanks,

Gabriel

Shorten it with bit.ly or similar.

I really like the logo. And the simplicity.

You could change the size of the fonts on the contact form.

And I'm not a big fan of the fonts types you've used for the main text on the front page.

Try: http://www.fontsquirrel.com/

They've got some really nice commercial free fonts up there.

Thanks for the feedback Jejune! That's really useful - I'm browsing the fonts at the moment, I think I'll definitely be using one of them! :-)

It's a good start but there are some things i'd like to point:

  • Play with color, us lighter shade of blck, not pure black, and you'll see nice result
  • "We are GE Design." is not a bad idea (altho feels innapropriate for a new brand :p), but the font, and @font doesn't really help it looking good,
  • The content text feels tought to read, it would turn away potential client
  • I would remove slider frames and button (not sure about frames, but buttons for sure), make it scale for whole size of the content, and swap with content text, if its minimalistic, no need to point out: see our recent works, since its too obvious, if you wanna stick with heading to works tho, go with something smarter, like ,,We bring our passion to live" etc.

Hope that helps

That's a very good point. I went through different versions of copy so this must have not been picked up on.

Thanks!

Being a fan of simplistic design is one thing but producing a site that looks like it was designed in mspaint is another.

Sorry for sounding harsh but even minimalistic/simplistic sites can be incredibly beautiful and well put together. In some ways you have to work even harder to make minimalistic designs work as you have to think way more about the layout and the presentation.

Your site just has no real energy, the layout seems like you have just thrown something together in 5 minutes and just thought "that will do".

I suggest checking out this gallery of minimalistic/simplistic web design to maybe get some ideas about the layout.

http://www.minimalsites.com/

Also think long and hard about Typography it looks as though you've only used 1 font for the entire website which offers no respite between paragraphs and you can't pick up where titles start and bodies begin.

I'd also provide case studies along with links to the sites you have made and is it really necessary to provide a SS from google analytic? Looks a little unprofessional in my eyes.

You've got a solid foundation to build off of just keep at it and keep asking yourself what can you do to improve the design instead of just being satisfied with what you have.

I also like the site, love the logo, and would reiterate the need for a more careful consideration of typography. Make that opening paragraph look like something you WANT to read rather than something you feel obliged to read because of where it is.

I am sure there are some little touches that would make your menu and body more interesting too.

On the whole this is a nice site, well done.

Sorry but it looks a bit lazy to me. It would take a webdesigner about an hour to do and doesn't present you as 'talented designers'.

Also Google will punish you for hiding H1's it's not a very 'smart SEO technique'.

Would be good if the recent work had links to see it full size.

Sorry it's not nicer feedback but hope it may be some help to point you in the right direction.

The logo is bad and there is precious little "design" going on here. Needs work

Go with 4colourprogress' comments and examples. Along with the typography, study the spacing between text areas and the order in which you want people to view each element on your site.

If you can, try to come up with 5 or 6 logo variations - different themes, sizes, etc. Experiment a lot. That will help you in that department.

I agree on working with different fonts and play around with typography. My biggest problem would have to be with your recent works/listed examples. They are very small and it’s hard for me to see them which makes me feel a bit uncertain about the job that was done with them.
