Hi

I can create thumbnails using Photoshop but have the usual problems re not all images fit into a rectangle, square etc.

I've noticed that some website gallery thumbnails don't seem to have this problem. The images fit really well. I was wondering if anyone knew how to do that, is it specific software, or is it some kind of cool scripting?

Thanks, pat24.

I've seen a few of these packages, but they all have the same sort of issues that you have to address in Photoshop, ie cropping or squashing to achieve a reasonable image for the thumbnail. I know that you can also use height and width within the html. I was just interested how/what the more experienced designers do.

Here's what I think you're talking about: You have an image and need (example) a 200x200px thumb.
Make a 200x200px mask in Photoshop, shrink the original down to about 300 then drag it to the mask; that way you can move the thumbnail around within the mask until it looks good then save the result.

Thanks, Robby. Interesting idea. I'll try it out.
