Hey,

I'm not sure this is the right place to post this query but I think its more of a back end issue so...

I'm working on a site developed in Wordpress. it is a site that requires a secure login (verisign). The previous developer has basically left each page in the back end in Wordpress empty and every page references a different template, so theres 30+ templates, with the content for each page hard coded into each template. Basically the 'Content Management' side of the website is redundant because all of the content is buried in php files.

My question is - is there a possibility the site had to be built like this for security issues? ie. it would be less secure if the content was in the back end of Wordpress?? I can't think of any other reason why it would be built like this and my back end coding knowledge is minimal.

Any advice on this appreciated, I don't want to redo the site and bring all the content into Wordpress if it will compromise the security of the website.

Cheers :)

Sounds like the developer just didn't know what he was doing, so made it work any way he could.

Every now and again I am reminded why I do not take on this sort of work. Unfortunately this sounds like a nightmare and it may be that to start over may be the best option in the long run.

^this.
I can't see any particular reason why this site 'should' be like that.
I still get pick up jobs from bad outsource developers like this. Where they don't know how to use the WordPress (or any other CMS) functions and so they've just hammered a square peg in to a round hole. If you're familiar with WP though it's usually a simple job to fix.
