I've never made a full e-commerce site myself, but have worked on a Drupal site using Ubercart which seemed pretty good to me!

Opencart is pretty good with lots of different payment gateways and an array of settings, it's pretty easy to theme too once you get your head around the file layout.

Hi,

i'm working with ecommerce solutions within last 8 years and would say the following:

Most popular solution is Magento. But it is very difficult for programming and understanding the code.
OpenCart is antipode of Magento: it is very clear and enough easy for programming.

osCommerce was popular for certain years.

For more than 5 years I work with Magento, so I can recommend it. And you always can find any addition feature in extensions and themes.

I really don't like to do an ecommerce site to begin with...but I did test all of them a bit. OScommerce, it was easy to install, etc. But, too much on the fix everything up bit for me. Magento...it is great. But, most my customers stick with GoDaddy, and sometimes I have a problem with linking up. I never tried presto, so I can't say much on it. Right now, I'm working with ZenCart. It seems ok. I'm not impressed, but I can let you know more on it later.

It's not open source but LemonStand is fantastic - http://lemonstandapp.com.

I use to use Zen Cart but switched to LemonStand because even though there is a $300 license I can develop a better site in half the time it takes to do a Zen Cart one. It's well worth looking at.

That's why I hate ecommerce sites the most....it is the time. But, they are great money. Thanks for the suggestion, I will check out lemonstandapp.com :)
