I'm looking for some legal advice on my clients competitor. Here is the background story...

Years ago there was a company called "Smithers RAPRA" which split and became 2 separate companies - "iSmithers" and "RAPRA Limited".

Both these companies offer membership packages to join an association called RAPRA.

iSmithers have recently set-up a page on their website called rapra-limited.asp which re-directs to their membership registration page.

Anyone Googling RAPRA Limited (or associated keywords) are being served this page (from iSmithers) top of the SERP because they have well established SEO.

Is it legal for iSmithers to have a page called rapra-lmited.asp on their site which is clearly trying to steal potential new members from RAPRA Limited?

Any advice would be gratefully received!!

Thank you. :)

It depends if "RAPRA Limited" is a copyrighted term or trademark. If it is then they could claim infringement and get the page removed.

If not, then it's perfectly legal. They can call their pages anything they like and there's not a lot RAPRA can do about it.
