Prices in USD, a website that claims an address in the UK and posting using an Australian IP address.

If you want this post to remain, can you clear this up.

Zed, why is spam being left on the site?
2 bloomin posts and 1 of them is spam....

They have hardly earned the advertising have they, so why are these posts NOT being removed?

Clearly its BS, as you can see and have asked.....

Their UK address is a crap fake address too, look it up online, its a company formation service, you will find thousands of businesses all using that same address and the 0203 number is a London suburbs number (Non-BT)

Look, I'm just a mod here and as far as I am aware this is a Classified Advertising part of the forum. I am not aware that anyone has to earn the 'right' to advertise. In fact the moderator guidelines should have us removing some of your posts where people ask in general about hosting and you spam with about your company. If you have a problem with it, take it up with Ben and watch what/how you post. It's and ad, that is what this part of the forum is for and you're flaming another company to gain business? Is that worth a ban as well?

As for your report and mentioning other communities dealing with things differently then I cannot comment.

For some reason i can't send you (Wesh) a message but here is what i was saying...

Thanks for the report, they are always welcome as they help in our (sometimes feel like futile) fight against the spammers!

However i'm not sure you really appreciate what we are doing here as a mod team. For example your sentence "Why are moderators not removing blatant spam like this?". The mod team here removes on excess of over 30 newly registered spammers every day and that's on a quiet day. As to why this spam wasn't removed on this occasion... sometimes we have to dig deeper in to the situation, doing so can often help us eliminate spammers before they even strike (IP bans etc).

Where as i know no one here will say anything, i do not feel comfortable with you calling out the mod team (and zed) in this instance. It's hard enough to do the job as it is but to then have members picking our methods apart makes us feel like not bothering.

Please continue to place reports as they help the community no end but also please remember that the mod team are volunteers and we have our methods and that questioning these methods will just slow down the process of spam removal.

Hardly fair though when we make a post and say something simple like "Why not give our new plans a try" to somebody actually looking for hosting, it gets deleted, yet mr 2 posts here is left alone...

Good way to treat those who join in and contribute?

ask Ben. Mods guidelines say what you did is not allowed, simple as that. If everyone followed your example of 'helping' by offering your services then we'd have everyone answering every question, like some of the spammers try, and offering their services for an answer.
Your post wasn't deleted, it was moved to Classified Advertising where, I believe, it remains. CA is a mess but there's not much the mods can do about it. Everyone has the right to post there, even you.

Read my numerous replies on the subject.
If you go just deleting deleting deleting then you'd be doing it all day every day and they'd come back in their droves.
A little detective work goes a long way. Just last week myself and zed managed to get an IP ban on 4 pages of spammers because we used our heads, waited, watched and recorded their actions. Figured out where they were coming from, what they were doing and then hit them with an IP ban. If we'd just have gone in and deleted them one by one as they broke the forums guidelines then we'd still be working our way through them in years to come.

If you do not understand or know what is going on the background then don't question it. Currently your posts look like you're throwing your toys out the pram because of a little competition and i'm sure you wouldn't want anyone to think that or any potential customers to find this on Google.

A and just so you know, i would drop the classified ads section in a heart beat. I've got work from here without having to pimp myself out. It's all about giving good advice as and when it is needed.
