Hello All,
I have recently finished improving/redesigning my website with the aim of brining a little more to life and character into it. There are a few things being put on the "to do" list such as SEO, some minor padding etc, however it's nice to have another pair of eyes to point out areas that could be improved.
Let me know what you think.

Thanks

LIke how it's clean looking and to point. However, looks a little too generic for me - see 30 sites like this everyday. Maybe that's just be being a fussy git though

Thanks. I agree it is a rather similar layout to many other websites. However I want to go for the familiarity to increase UX. Maybe slightly too much?

I think that the side is good, but like somone said before, it looks too common. But that's not the bad thing, now when you have good structure, you can work on making your website stand out. For me it feels too dull, nothing is really happening on the first plan, sort of feels like site is unfinished with real content.

Okay, When you say "unfinished" do you mean in terms of the structure? Or do you mean that the site is too flat with not enough going?
How can I improve this in your opinion?

I would give proper information about what's the site is about in 2 words, for example : WE BUILD ROCKETS, WE MILK COWS, WE PLAY MUSIC... currently there's just text content with description, but this is old way to present things. Now typical user when searching for information on web, he browses many pages per hour when searching for certain topic, he won't even pay attention to text on your page. So imo, better presentation, maybe a bold sentence under the slider, or move slider to the side and make mini block left from slider, there are many ways.
Best but hard practise, is to become objective about your design, try to ,,act'' like you are a visitor, and this is somones site, judge it by that then.
And one more thing, don't do things just for sake of doing them, try to make things have purpose. And going that logic, what is purpose for animated guy doing nothing next to content. If i were you, i would give this guy a big sign in hand, saying: ABOUT US, or MORE INFO BELOW, pointing down. Keep the user flow for most important info, and things you actualy want to show.
I know my post could feel about messy when reading, so sorry, but i hope it helped some way (and it's a good critique from me, cause i think the site is good, color selection is excelent).
