I have a new domain name lets call it newdomain.com for examples sake... my old domain is olddomain.com.
I have webhosting for olddomain.com with godaddy (and also my new domain is with godaddy). I use godaddy as my host to operate Indexhibit. When I update my site I log into Indexhibit and Cyberduck and do it from there. easier for me.
Today, i wanted to change the URL, without forwarding (I dont want my old domain on the web) - i looked into how to do it, first of all backing up my SQL in PHP ADMIN. I couldn't log into my php admin, so i found a forum, where the guy said to make a new database (lets call this database 2), and then you can log in. I did this and it worked, but I couldn't find my other files which are on my original database. So, I still had no access to my SQL files for backing them up and preparing to move it all.
Whilst confused about this, I was looking on the godaddy menu, and saw 'DOMAIN CHANGE' - So I clicked it and typed in newdomain.com.... and it does work, I type in my old url, and it says 'sorry! not here!' ..... i type in my new one, and my website comes up.... GREAT
What should i do? Do I need to purchase new hosting? or how do i get to be able to log into indexhibit again? Im guessing this information is linked with my olddomain.com, which has now changed. I've tried changing it back but it won't allow. I also can't access cyberduck now.
if its easier, can i clear all of my folders somehow, I have no idea how, and set up a new server on cyberduck my current hosting? I dont care if i loose my site design/photographs etc, there isn't much on there anyway, i just want to be able to have access to it and start again if needs be. I need to be able to access cyberduck and indexhibit.
would appreciate any help as my knowledge of web design is basic.
many thanks,
Charlotte
