From a design point of view I'd say it looks pretty good, I can't see why that would be the issue. Layout looks nice, well structured. I really like the menu system, a very nice touch.

It might be issues with SEO on the back end, or maybe just the industry - my brother used to be in car modification and he said that there's just not the demand for it that there used to be a few years ago!

PS there are no issues with it displaying in Chrome 16. The ads at the bottom are a little distracting but I guess there's no way you can leave those out...

I disagree, it might look alright but it is confusing and cluttered.
The dropdown link has too much going on and becomes hard to navigate, over-styled and too much bling.

Too much adds by google make it look very much like a scam site, ready to steal my credit card details.

Take out the boobs, looks unprofessional and could be porn-spam.

Stick to one font that is suited for use online, your font choices are poor.

take away all the different colors in your links/dropdown and stick to one, this is confusing.

Sorry mate you need to restructure the site and remove clutter to create an easier site to navigate.

Sorry, but I think this design is a litle bit outdated. I would do it more light and clean, without using this bright red color. When you create webshop design it should enjoy visitors confidence. And talking about your design, I could tell that i would not purchase anything about your website. Sorry. I really wish you to improve your website and have a real success.

personally in these tough financial times and high unemployment (including your target audiance, i would imagine its simply a case of people not having money to spend first and foremost. I agree with the points above about the boobs and ads, and I checked out some of your basic seo elements and can see that you should try and include the domain keywords more in the title and alt text where possible. For example, have the words cars modified in your key seo elements a bit more (without spamming and keyword stuffing it). I would also be inclined to add title tags to images (I know you have alt text, but thats mainly for screen readers and spiders, where as titling elements does give weight in serps in my experience.

edit:
design wise I like it. But I guess that ultimately comes down to opinions.
