Hi guys,

I need some advice on a process that I require for my website to function.

I thought i would explain the process and then you guys could tell me if it is possible:

1. Gamers signs up to website via account creation (I know this is possible)
2. They browse a daily schedule and sign up to a specific game (possible database to allow this?)
3. The website communicates with a private gaming server with Steam ID's and invites are sent (how would i do this?)
4. The game begins once all 10 players are in the lobby (how would i do this?)
5. Once the game finishes, the game results are sent back to the website to update a leaderboard. (how would i do this?)

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.
Stan.

All the things you want are possible. (I'm assuming there's an API for steam to be able to get the scores and info on users)

What you are asking to do isn't too hard if you know how, but since you're asking I'm assuming you don't know which means spending quite a while learning.

To answer your questions
1. simple
2. you'll need a database anyway since you've got users. Making a daily schedule is possible but what info does it display and where does the info come from?
3. this through the steam API
4 & 5. I'm not sure how you start community games like this on steam coz I don't use it but bound to all be possible (assuming steam has a developer API)

I'd question whether you need to do this yourself anyway, surely someone somewhere has done this already?

ps if you get a mo, I'm looking for reviews of a new design I'm working on - I posted in the wrong section d'oh, if you wouldn't mind having a look and giving an honest answer I'd appreciate it :)

Thank you for replying.

1. The schedule will display game type i.e. Free for all / Team Deathmatch and time it starts and number of players allowed, i think this will be do-able though.
2. Thanks for clearing that up, i will have a look at whether they have an API.

The only real issue i have is getting invites sent to people, this is my main issue, as long as this is possible the others arent a real issue.

Ive done my research and (as far as i can tell) it hasnt been done before.

RE your design:
I was looking at those a couple of days ago and i really like all of the logo designs but i like the 2nd layout design. They are really good.
