Hello everyone,

I am an aspiring entreprenuer and I am currently learning web development and web design specifically Wordpress and Dreamweaver. I was looking for some assistance from some experienced developers/designers who could help me in my efforts to master Web development and design. I also wanted to hook up with some graphic designers who have the skills to produce high quality designs to spec.

I am currently based in the UK just outside of London and have several business ideas I am juggling with in regards to ecommerce. I am experienced in Economics and have extensive knowledge in regards to all business areas and want to learn web development/ web design to use as an outlet for some commercial ideas I have. I would greatly appreciate any help as my skills at the moment would be at the beginner stage, however I do learn very quickly and I am motivated to master these subjects.

I am looking to network with some developers and web designers who are committed to their profession with the view of sharing ideas, giving feedback and working on some projects together in the future.

So if you would like to know more drop me a message.

One suggestion - don't learn Wordpress and Dreamweaver, that is not learning web design and development. Learn HTML, CSS, PHP or ASP and Javascript.

Yeah I would listen to simplypixie.I learnt web design on Dreamweaver in University but it does everything for you and you don't really learn anything so now I'm learning to code HTML and CSS by hand using a simple editor such as Notepad :) best way!

Hi again thanks for your replies. I am learning HTML,CSS,PHP,MySQL and Javascript (specifically jquery) in an intensive course I put together myself. However most of the creating I will be doing is through Wordpress and Dreamweaver. I learn quickly but understand these are quite broad subjects.

In deciding what to learn I am seeing a lot of ASP.net and VB.net pop up as well as various javascript libaries such as AJAX. I would feel confident with learning what I have set out, however a lot of the server side tech such as SQLservers, TSQL, databases, python and the various C language programming aspects look complicated. What would be the most efficent way of learning enough server side web development aspects?

I agree that you need to learn the basics of HTML and CSS to understand how they work together. Dreamweaver also has its place as a useful tool to help you build your sites so stick with this as well.

As for the server side I would just concentrate on the above skills and contract out any more indepth programming. You cant learn all aspects in the field but just try to concentrate on one.

Currently I too am looking for future project partners so contact me if interested.
