I've been looking into purchasing a new domain for a project. So far the only name available is the .co.uk.

The website is not UK specific. Should I be looking at changing the domain completely to one that has more options available?

Or just stick with it?

Thanks in advance!

If the name you have in mind is a really good one it may be worth bagging .co.uk and going with that.

If it's something you could call something else quite easily without damaging the name and project then I would aim to get both the .com and .co.uk personally, doing a 301 redirect from the .co.uk to the .com.

(The only grey area for me is how well a .co.uk would perform worldwide in the searches compared with the .com)

Cheers Oak.

I like the domain, it's unfortunate I can't get the .com

I may need a re-think.

I would consider another name, in reality if the website is not area specific, try and avoid area specific TLDs.

Look, if it's for a UK based business then you should get a .co.uk and not a .com in the first place.

Thanks sclarke, I thought that may be the case.

Thanks Pedro. As mentioned the website is not UK based.
