Hi,
We've had a few question come up recently about image licensing. If you are only doing the artwork (using stock images), and the client is printing, who should pay for the extra licenses to print? What if they are printing millions??
Interested to hear your thoughts...

Well either you pay it and pass it on to them as a cost, or they pay it. Doesn't make the blindest bit of difference.
But they must be paid for, and you must get the correct licence. For example there are commercial and non-commercial licences, and be very aware that print licences for pictures can run into thousands.

True. All fine if print run quantities detailed in the brief!
Agreed, image licences very important and very expensive!

What I would do is on your invoice or contract, state specifically that the price paid includes a license to print x number of copies. It might also be worth adding a bit that points out the 'dangers' of printing more copies than licensed for.
