I was wondering if there was a way to connect two monitors to my laptop and still use the main screen. I want a monitor either side of the laptop screen. I only have one vga port and a HDMI port. My laptop is good quality so I don't think performance would be an issue.
So would there be away to do this or would I need a desktop for this?

depends on the spec of the graphics card. Can it run both outputs at the same time? if not you're stuffed. And do you want something different on all three screens?

There are USB to VGA converters around.. at £60 a pop

Some laptops come with multiple video outputs - VGA, HDMI, and DVI - so you can use different outputs to connect to different monitors. Make sure you check out the specs before you buy the laptop though. You might also want to check the supported resolutions so if you have a high resolution monitor, you can take advantage of its capabilities with a graphics card that can 'feed' it video at those resolutions.
