Hello everyone. I want to present you my unfinished web design mock-up, becuase i really need some critique in order to improve it. Sorry that it is in Latvian, but it is being created for a real estate company. The project is really urgent I have only one day left for the design. Btw, I'm not going to be the developer.

Thanks in advance. Click on the thumbnail.

I can try and help. At a first glance, the space in the top left corner is a little blank. It may look to crowded when the left and center column are filled in, but it's hard to tell.
The color scheme is great, and overall looks pretty good. If the few things mentioned above were fixed/added, I think it would be awesome.

I like it:) Obviosly, it's quite hard to say much more because without the content being there it's kinda 'blank' but as NickTheGreat said think about space, do you really need all those boxes?:)

Look forward to seeing it live!

First off you posted in the wrong section, secondly you only opted yesterday and yesterday was the second of January, a time when most members are having down time for the new year.

Have patience, sometimes your link may be up for weeks before you get a decent set of reviews.

Not a fan of the colours to be honest, they don't scream property to me. If that's the brand colours then fair enough.

The header is wasted space at the moment as you have crammed all the info into the centre and right columns.

The main left-hand column doesn't work for me, it grabs my attention but for all the wrong reasons. Try making the gradient more subtle.

That's all I can find at the moment, good luck!

Those colours are god awful. Poo-ey brown and mouldy looking greens, not to mention the use of harsh gradients. This is a website to sell property, so why does it look like the inside of a sewer?

I also echo JPs sentiments. Sorry to be harsh but there's nothing about your design I'd personally bother keeping.

Surely property search should be the core focus? As per this page: http://www.haart.co.uk/

the green colour is actually called baby poop green and it's a big NO in webdesign especially when matched with brown.

M8 I'm going to be honest here so you can improve your design skills, here it is..
It's Crap! it looks like it was designed in the 90's what you need to do is now restart it and don't send that to development.

Ok now that's out the way and you know it's crap you now know what kind of designs to avoid, you should go for a clean easy to read design. DO NOT try to impress the user with graphics and stuff the user doesn't care about that all they care about is the prices!! get that stuff in the users face!

A lot of your "reviews" are pretty much you just saying things are crap, do you have any examples of your work we could "review"?

Yes, I do, actually. But I am not asking for anyone's opinion on it.

Look, honestly, how can someone ask for a review on... nothing?
There's is no content. No nothing.

Web design is not just colors and columns, it's content. it's more content than anything else.

You can have a white page, with no images, no colours, but beautiful content and typography, and that's a beautiful looking site. Don't even need Photoshop.

That's why I get pissed off, because it's wasting my time. I come here to review sites, help people out, get my sites reviewed (which they never get any replies to, thanks).

Review nothing.

By just saying something is 'crap' thinking that alone will help someone's design skills is not constructive in the slightest.

This thread is pretty funny, but all negative comments and personal affairs aside, I'll actually give an honest review about the design:

Positives:

  • The layout is pretty good.

  • The relativity in size of content buckets to each other looks good

  • The design is all aligned to a set width

Negatives:

  • As you might have guessed by now, green and brown don't make a very good combination, and especially the shades you've chosen

  • Try to make your margins consistent. Choose a distance that works, and stick to it. It's a subtle element, but it goes a long way. (margin is the distance between things like your content buckets: sidebar, main content)

  • The shadows on elements inputs in the header are a bit large. Try making them a bit smaller and give them a 11% opacity white drop-shadow to sell the 'embedded' effect

  • The gradients on your list items are too strong. Keep your gradients very subtle so they don't take away from the content that will be on them

  • The background has too much detail, and since it has a pretty obvious patterned texture on it, it starts to blend with the content, and disorient

Also as others have stated, next time you ask for a review of a website design, try to get some content on it, even if it's lorem ipsum.

Hope that helps.
