Hi
do you have to put a trading address on a website - eg the client works from home so doesn't really want his personal details on the site?
wonder if anyone knows if there is a legal need for this?
thanks

Hi Emac
Companies have to list certain pieces of information.
The law firm Pinsents Masons offer a really good website outlining some basic guidance.

Depends on a few different factors. Are you a COMPANY or a SOLE TRADER?
That would probably be the biggest factor as to what details you are legally obliged to put on your website.

We had this drilled into us over and over again at uni, on an ICT & the Law module we took.
If a company is registered (a company registered with Companies House), then you do have a legal obligation to include the registered office address and registration number in business letters, email and also on websites.
If you are a sole trader, you do not, but including an address at which you are contactable is good practice for businesses.
If the company is VAT registered, then the VAT registration number should be shown on the website too.
