This is the Jpeg of a website design that i made in Photoshop, currently there is almost no chance of this website being functional and fully coded (by me anyway), but i still designed it anyway.

I would like a LOT of criticism, i want to know what i did wrong, and maybe even what i did right, the bit at the top with the picture, was intended to be scrolling images, that empty part in the middle, well that was meant to be a blog of some type.

I'm not an expert by any means, or anywhere near. So I can only give a layman's view on the design. I have one criticism, and that is the placement of the facebook, twitter and RSS links/ images. I would say they have too much prominence in your design. They were pretty much the first thing I was drawn to as I looked at the image you posted.

Other than the criticism offered above, I think it's very good for the first try. As for coding and making it fully functional, this would be fairly easy, there are tutorials on how to do it online. It's a relatively simple process, but it can be time consuming.

Here are the things you have to work on: Sizes, Styling, Alignment, Content and Typography. For now everything in your design is chaos, you have to pay attention to everything on the web, question everything, like "Why is this there and why he choose this colour?". That's how you will understand the basics of the web, and when you design you will ask yourself the same, so your web design will be reasonable, there should be a reason for everything you place on the canvas. Good luck and Merry Christmas :)

I can see what you're going for but you've missed the mark. As bekyarov said, think about your typographic (font) choices, think about your spacing and object positioning, think about your colour choices.

Also, I wouldn't give the social media icons that much weight, either.

i agree with guys above, design is very outdated and there is just too much going on...

keep going, look around the web for tutorials/inspiration and you'll soon sharpen up on the design aspect.

It's good for a first try. I would reiterate the critisisms of others and also say that, for me, I don't feel the logo does the site any justice. The colours do not look right and it seems very out of place. Also, I strongly agree with other on how it is an outdated design. Keep trying though, for a first it is really good.

Other than that it is good.
