+1 for that, I didn't think such sites where out there, normally it's royalty free but they expect you to pay for the image.

When I find an image it is asking to purchase credits to buy it.

Think you'll find they are the sponsored results from iStockPhoto which you do have to pay for.

You just need to sign up.

I'll bite... Same could be said for any professional service, and much like a web designer a photographer has to make a living some how

Finding good free images is always a challenge ... well for me it has been.

Some really great links have already been shared, thanks those will come in handy for sure.

I have found some good images at morgue files.

But the sad truth is that the really good images are from professionals that are also looking to make some cash for their efforts. I have joined the payed for sites and found that some do offer a free image of the day for members. So join and save them and start building a library you never know when you may need them.

If you have time you can look through sites like flikr, there are a lot of images that you can use commercially but you will have to look at the licence per each picture. Its also easy to contact the image owner if you are a member too so you can ask if you can use it.

Speaking of stock images, I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen the same istock photo of the lady with the headset for customer service.

Seriously though, we'd all be first in the queue to bitch and moan about being priced out of the game by amateurs - so explain to the client that good photography costs just like good design, and build the costs into your quotes.
