If you search Google for Ferret Beds you will see the website that I am working on. The title in the serps is Ferret Beds UK its near the bottom ish of page 1. When you go onto the website the title is "Ferret Beds UK - Ferret Beds, Ferret Hammocks Beds, Ferret Tents Beds, Ferret Bedding".

The title has never been just "Ferret Beds UK" which doesnt make sense to me?

I think you need to elaborate a bit more as i am unable to understand your problem completely but what i understand is that your page has been indexed with undesired title which is not a big worry. You just need to change the page title and wait for the SE spiders to visit your page this will hopefully happen within couple of weeks. Whenever the spider will visit, it will re-index your page with the new title.

When did you last change the TITLE tag? You say it's never been just 'Ferret Beds UK' - how long as the website been live and what other things have you done to increase the frequency Google/Yahoo/Bing re-index the site? e.g.

1. Re-submitting XML Sitemap
2. Share on social media
3. Link on a more frequently crawled (and high quality) website

...for example?

Hi.

Are your site registret in dmoz/ODP?

If so your problem could come from ODP. Google may take the ODP title an use as title in the search results.

If you place a <meta name=”robots” content=”NOODP” /> on the page google don't use the ODP title.

Best regards

Nolas
