Had someone from Yell on the phone recently claiming they can run my Adwords campaign more cost-effectively than I can. I scoffed; not because I am any kind of Adwords guru but because I rarely find a third party can understand my business as well and respond as quickly as we do ourselves.
But perhaps I was hasty and should investigate further. Anyone had any experience of Yell or any other third party Adwords "consultancy"?
TIA
Paul

Please don't do this. They charge you thousands, but the reality is all the advice and help you need to run your campaigns is provided by Google or is on the web - free of charge.
Honestly, it's a con. Yells behaviour on the net these last few years is nothing short of dodgy. Dodgy websites, and dodgy business practise like this.
This is coming from someone in charge of an Adwords budget of 60000 a year too - so trust me!

Use Yell adwords where we work, sadly this was out of my control! But there adds make next do no difference, and in reality, I've seen traffic double by using things like Google shopping and working on SEO to rank higher on Google.
Also something to bare in mind is our company has several hundred adds on the Yell website (As far as i understand), we're lucky to receive 2-5 hits a day from them.

Many thanks both. Thought this might be the case. I've never found a reason to use them, even when they were Yellow Pages but I like to give things a fair review from time to time.

my one and only experience with dealing with yell was in 2006 and it was not good.
I got a paid advert and just got bombarded with people ringing my mobile touting for business and yell themselves never left me alone trying to flog me something.
Avoid yell services apart from a free listing.
They once made a website for one of my clients trying to undercut me as well even though the client told them she didn't want one.
At first she panicked thinking it was the one I made for her as it quickly showed in the results and was ghastly! I had to explain that it wasn't my doing but she only believed me when I showed her the domain whois
So, yeh, not a massive fan of anything yell related to be honest.
