Hello, bit of strange thread but is the only forum i know where anyone will share my thoughts.
Is it just me that finds it annoying when walking around the street, reading a magazine etc... that you recognise the fonts and feel happy that you have determined what they are.
A couple of times i have said out loud... thats TRAJAN... then realising. No one cares...
Its only going to get worse haha!

The next step is developing strong taste about which fonts you like and dislike and getting annoyed by crappy typography everywhere.
At work they had to take down the signs for "Men" and "Women" over the bathroom doors to paint the walls and the painters just spelled out the words with masking type on the doors. Every time I use the bathroom it annoys me that the masking tape letters are ugly, malformed and improperly kerned.

Guilty too, though I must admit sometimes I yearn for a 'WhatTheFont' app when I see something special and don't recognise the font.

Ah yes an app would be excellent.
Glad I'm not the only one! I work in the vinyl side of signs and get so bored with people wanting comic sans...
It's the only font that is 'cool' and different when your on a pc from they were at school
Crikey, thinking of school and IT lessons, I remember when underlining was acceptable...
People need educating

Brilliant thread, lol. My teacher at college brought a huge book on just fonts. The whole class were very shocked!
