Working on a project and want to use a mongoDB for parts of it. Having trouble finding a host that will allow it to be installed without being on an expensive dedicated server though.

Anyone know of a host that supports it? Ideally on shared hosting while its being developed and in beta or something thats not too costly. If the site takes off then I'll move over to vps or dedicated but in the early days I don't fancy spending £80+ a month for a small amount of users.

Not heard of that DB, if you can't find any hosts that support it you have two options, ask the mongoDB developers or get a Dedicated server

yea, looks that way. nuts. Guess I'll stick to mysql for all and migrate to a VPS when the userbase gets large enough.

Hi Taylor

You are welcome to try my new PURE hosting, if it doesn't work then no charge (but I think it will, I'm just doing some research to find out for sure.)

PM if interested - you'll just need to change your nameservers on the domain

Depending on your budget, the Linode 512 vps might be doable at $19.95 per month (roughly £13).
I've used linode for a few years and really can't fault them.
They also have an excellent library of articles and how-tos including various ones on mongodb
Might be worth a look anyway?

You can get a good VPS for around £12/month. I guarantee* it'll work out amazingly better than any traditional hosting package.

* not a guarantee

It looks like the other guys nailed it - you'd need at least VPS or dedicated rather than shared.

At the moment it would be for logging and some real-time location based stuff. Want to also see how it performs for other areas. Like the flexibilty and scalability
