I have a phpbb Forum which is being bombarded by rubbish from around the world.

I''m moderating it so i have to confirm each post but I'm getting 40-50 bogus posts a day from all over the place.
I'm banning ips and users (almost 2000 of each so far!) but they keep coming..

It's for adding details about local people who died in the wars.

It seems to have been put at the top of spamming lists.

Anybody any advice?

Hmm that's a tricky one.. hope Jason Dexter reads this!

spitfire and brightonmike may be able to help with this one if you can get their attention - they are familiar with it I think

Make it so that new members have to be approved by Admin - this will keep spam off your forum.
As Admin, you can go into the ACP and mass delete the spammers

There is a website called Stopforumspam where you can check if someone is a spammer.

I've not tried this, but there is an add-on Anti-Spam ACP

I run a forum that gets massive amounts of spam sign-ups but I can count on one hand the number of spam posts that have actually made it onto the forum in the last 2 years. I'm using simple machines forum with the stopforumspam add-on. I think there's an add-on for phpbb, but if there's not, it's worth migrating so that you can use it. It makes moderating your forum soooooo much easier.

Good luck :)
