I need to set something up to provide hosting for my customers and I'm looking for a good name for it.

Anything goes really - from fart hosting to tart hosting I don't care, if I think it will work I'll try it.

Not a big fan of the whole hosting game but necessity calls

I did but now I haven't. I am incredibly indecisive.

But another name for you.

Robusta Hosting

Robusta is a type of coffee bean.

I must say Robbie is on a roll... took us next to 4/5 months to come up with anything remotely brand able/useable.. one of our old ones was "bluecasthosts" and we based our current brand idea around the HNUK.net (Home Network UK)and Uk2.net, so instead CSN-UK (Central Server Network UK) and chose datacentes in London to fit with the name.

Just got my hands on code-simple.co.uk which could turn into an interesting side project :)

did think simple code hosting or something?

Is the whole hosting thing a pain or are you glad you offer it?

I can't really give a basic answer to that as I suppose it's all about what you aim to achieve. Just having something running to host your clients is great, it will also work well if they are fairly content with the server (stable) as well as being low maintenance (support). Although there isn't a great deal of profit to be made, a good way to gain some experience mind but be cautious as it can back fire on your reputation.

As for me, I started hosting as I enjoy the environment, the community, developing and almost anything web related, my personal views being a software engineer, is that everything will be online shortly and everything already is heading that way... salesforce, BF3, Google aps, Office365 etc... and being part of that greatly interests me.

The hosting as such allows me and my team to both make our own projects and help shape and guide other projects and keep touch with everything that engages with us as well as make money (always important) along the way, while supporting others really... as that's really what I see hosting is about... supporting your clients...though it can be frustrating at times in terms of being powerless to phishing and other such issues.

Suppose ultimately I'm glad I've done it, and have such a good team... but I'd chalk it down to our attitude towards hosting (as above) and interest... :)

Probally really better discussion for another thread.. :)

I think the best so far has been 'fart hosting' but what about 'coffee biscuit hosting' - its a little something on the side. :)

...damn, i like that!

I tried to think of something clever but nothing sounded right. So i thought i might as well use my own name. It's only going to be me anyway so why not?.

Cheers for the suggestions guys. Some good names there but after giving it a lot of thought I fancied a totally different approach - so came up with 'pure' as a concept.

This is the new site, if anyone's interested!

http://www.purewebsitehosting.co.uk

Hope you like..

Not much info on what you offer though, i can add a hosting service to the basket, buit what do i actually get?

Potential to be a great site mate.

Thanks mate! :)

Appreciate the feedback too.. What you said kind of confirms what one of my concerns were.

In my effort to keep things ultra minimal and straightforward I think I have not provided enough info. I found it an interesting project to do something so minimal - it was a good exercise but I wasn't sure if I had the balance right of minimal / information.

Could you access the demo control panel in the footer tab ok?

What would you suggest to improve? A bit more info on the product buy page?

Sup,

Nice, if I may I would like to suggest something as I buy hosting myself, maybe if you list what comes with the hosting it might help so php, 5 emails, mysql db, wordpress one click install, uk support etc.

Secondly its £25 for the year, most hosting companies break it down into a month, (usually about £5), so if im routing about for cheap hosting, I go fasthosts it says £5 a month then I visit yours and it says £25 annual (£2 a month) it might look better.

Just a thought.

O I know you have sorted the name but just to throw one into the mix: superherohosting.co.uk: I'm a superhero, and im here to save you.

That's a good idea, cheers! - will add.

Also looking at adding more info to product page and also a testimonial page I think would be good as I think most business from this will be generated from word of mouth / other happy customers.

Already got quite a few people on board so I am I currently getting their feedback. Jason Dexter seems pretty pleased.

Made a few changes to product page:- Link

Will be adding even more info tomorrow

Hot Hosting
Gecko Hosting
Smart host

I don't know really.

I usually find if you think of an unusual animal, or a short word that isn't used much then it makes something good, eg:
Panda Hosting
Glass host
Gecko Hosting
Lion hosting
Glitter Host

This thread has taken an unexpected tangent!

Out of interest, I did a google image search for 'Lesbian Coffee' and got a picture of Robbie Williams.
