How do your clients pay for your work? Which payment do you prefer the most?

paypal? direct deposit? Cheque? Cash?

Did you have any trouble with any of these payment methods?

If you have any other payment methods that wasn't listed above, please post it.

Thank you for reading this post.

I always try to go for instant bank transfer straight away. Both yourself and the client have un-equalled security, less charges and it's by far the fastest.

I only ever take paypal as a last resort and then all charges are passed on to the client.

For freelance stuff I never accept cheque. Pain in the ass waiting for it it clear and lots of scope for charge backs. Cash or bank transfer only - less fuss and messing around overall.

Tend to get paid a lot of cheques as i work my clients directly usually. Whenever I work with someone who cannt reach our offices we just send them invoices with Kashflow.

As others have mentioned, bank transfer I've found to be the best method.

More important than payment method though is picking the right clients. Any payment method is better than a promise. In promises I'm a rich man, but after a spectacularly bad run just lately, I can't afford to eat at the moment :D

Nothing much to add, other than what's already been said.

Bank Transfer my preferred method, it's instant(ish), cheques are fine. Cash is ok, but I tend to spend it rather than put it through the books, which can be awkward!!

Use paypal, it is better way always

Are you for real? How is paypal better, in any way?

a)It is sooooo easy for a buyer/client to initiate a chargeback, they can normally find some obscure reason to do so, and often win!
b)It is still regarded as 'cheap looking' and 'unprofessional'.
c)It costs recipients to receive payments, passing these charges on to the buyer/client normally raises eyebrows and puts people off.
d)To actually 'get' your money you have to wait 5-7 (unless this has changed) days for it to transfer from paypal to your chosen bank, and again you get charged unless it is over a set amount?

You can have it in 1-2 days if you pay an extra... £5 I think? Just a nice extra little fee to add on.
