For you - anything! Tell you what... in exchange could you look at one small part of my site... it's just the design so it should only take a few minutes - much less than working on something important like copy!!!!!!
The rest of you mortals will have to settle for just snippets I'm afraid - I'll sort out how it's all going to work and put some strict rules in place (

One draws inspiration where one can! But no, I didn't look at Rawkes (it makes me too jealous!) - I'm glad it found some resonance with you - it must mean I'm doing something right!
Also glad to hear you found it useful - nearly 2,000 views (about 100 since Part 6 went-up this morning) and only you found it useful?

The more reads you get the more educating you are doing! And you know as well as I that the power of your words are even educating people who think they didn't find this useful.
The preview and essay tips you gave me are sure to have bumped me up a few marks. These tips, tools and tricks improve any writing, not just web site copy!
Very, very useful

Good thinking Rob - I'll get that done as an interim solution whilst we sort out what we're going to do longer term...
Still - considering it's only about 4 or 5 of you who take an active part in Copy Corner maybe I'll just start PMing you the articles!

Or lack of...
I've been scan reading and it's truely excellent stuff (note: not sure your ego needs feeding anymore wize ;-))
But other concerns have prevented me from contributing or reading in more detail. When I get back to rewriting my own ABOUT and FAQ this is the first place I'm visiting for lessons.
Didn't know there was a vote but I'm a YES.
Here Wize borrow one of my headcoats your ego is coming out the top of ya head innit.
Keep up the good work, you are the DON.

I assure you it takes bloomin' ages to write this kind of high quality stuff (I think I might need 2 headcoats!).
I wasn't fishing for ego-inflating praise - it's just feels sometimes like I'm just writing for Rob and Eris - in which case I might as well save time and offer them customised advice in private! As such the rate at which I've put articles up has dwindled.
All I need to know is that people are actually getting something out of this and then I'm more than happy to keep going.
And, believe it or not, knowing that a member like yourself who's opinion I've come to respect, thinks I'm achieving something here does help motivate.
Right... enough moping - I've got world domination plans to write!!!!

Just teasing you Wizeley...
Flattered you respect my opinion, as I often feel like Camus. But then again my own inate desire to be on the outside/contrary/anti-in and pro-out etc is all part of the raison.
What's in is out and what's out is in.
Or out is the new in.
Looking forward to a good old read when I have the time.

I've started second guessing every sentence I write now... takes me about half an hour to write a post!
Cheers bro

LMAO me too. And emails at work and any documetation.
Was funny I had a Uni FMA to do last week that built on a previous TMA. Said TMA involved a tender, looking back over it was amusing to say the least as Wize's WDF voice kept popping up in my head saying ooh passive voice and repetition.

I've been putting of registering as I'm doing uni exams atm, but had to reply to this thread!
I've been trying to write some decent copy for a client's website (The copy they wrote themselves for the homepage is far too self serving!) This thread has given me some great ways to improve it, and everything else I write.
Massive thanks Wizely, and I look forward to the next one!
Oh and I vote yes for the copy clinic!
ps. Hope my name doesn't cause too much confusion with the other "Rob" (Who's actually good at design!)
Back to revising now, but will probably resurface in a couple of weeks. Looks like a great forum!

I was just wanting to see if anyone was actually getting anything out of these articles - little did I know that I was getting inside your heads and boosting WDF membership too!!!!
I hope I can continue to live up to expectations and make your mind do somersaults every time you even see a pencil!!!!
When contagion gets really bad (like with me) you'll never enjoy a book again.
Which reminds me... if anyone is ever in Quito there's a copy of 'The Da Vinci Code' somewhere on the roof of the little corner shop on the corner of Los Rios y Anteparra that I threw there off my balcony after one too many typos and inexcusable grammar slip-up!
Thank you all

I reckon it's all part of his plan for world domination. He's using the Copy Corner to take over our minds!

Well I figured if you guys aren't using them someone else might as well!
If it's any consolation 'Wizely Syndrome' has beneficial effects on your writing. But if you do want to be cured I suggest a course of MTV, Seinfeld and listening to teenagers talking - that should pretty much clear-up all that pesky thinking and powerful mastery of words!

Your articles are definitively interesting! I've been reading your theory (if I can call it that) and I'm amazed by the simplicity involved. I tend to always over-complicate my copy when in fact a simple and easy-to-follow one is much more effective.
I "watch and learn" as they say. Keep them coming!

Congrats on yet another fantastic and enthralling episode of copy corner. Please do not feel undervalued or like you are working an audience of 2... It probably just feels like that to you, because everyone's too afraid to compose any prose after reading CC (even if it is just posting on here). At least until they have had many hours practice, I would imagine!
Please don't stop.
Have as many headcoats as you need to keep going!
Maybe run for parliament? If you applied the rules of good copy to social policy, you could turn this country around. Think about it

Thanks for that Thomas - although you might get me in trouble with the mod squad for messing with this great forum!
We're still figuring out what to do to make Copy Corner work so apologies for keeping everyone waiting for more exciting articles and the up-coming Copy Clinic and things.
As for not posting earlier - no worries, you've posted now and, with the ratio of views to posts about 200:1 so it's much appreciated you and the others who've posted have supported Copy Corner!
