Hi guys, would love some feedback on a design I'm working on. It's for a bar / restaurant.

Very much a WIP, but I think I've nearly finished the design of the home page. Just a little explanation if it's not obvious:

Top menu:
The active page (in this case Home) is signified by the white background and hovered items will extend down (like Location in the image).

The content slider is as you can see, blank. I've included some initial designs for the slider's content in a seperate image. These will probably change slightly (namely the layout of the student one, still waiting on content) but general idea is final unless there's a lot of scathing criticism... :p

Look forward to your thoughts :)

Thanks,

Tom

You've done a great job and I've got nearly nothing to fault you on.
I do have some minor suggestions, but all in all, I think the site is almost ready.

1) The highlighted menu item is white -- the same as the background. I would use either another color for the tab or apply more grey to the background to make it stand out. You don't want the highlighted tab to fade into the background.
2) You misspelled "accessibility".
3) I personally don't like the 3D effect on the student night lettering. I find it off-looking on a blackboard background and that background is working well for the page.

P.S. I don't know the target audience. This probably won't work for a bar for heavy tattoo'd bikers. It does for a place aimed at families and hip young people.

Full of win, manages to convey the style of pub without over complicated design. Well done.

Regarding the White background on the current menu item. I actually think this works really well and doesn't clash with the background because of the great use of imagery.
Also the blackboard is perfect as that's exactly what you expect to see on one of those pub blackboards.

I really like it, the only thing I don't know what the hell it is, is in the feedback box on home page, is it a knife and fork!?? It looks like a whitish blob shape.

Really imaginative navigation/logo. :friends:

Only one thing I've do differently I'd try to keep fonts more or less the same, as on the first page/ 2nd page there is the standard font, the black board 3d font, then the hand written font and then an italic font lower down.

I'd keep the two fonts on the black board and just use the first page font on the lower portion of the 2nd page.

It has a nice feel to it - very in-keeping with the subject matter.

You do a great job in your design for your restaurant and bar website.
