Say if I was interested in setting up an office, who are the best people to go for cheap reliable broadband/line rental packages?
Plus, what kind of insurance do I need? Liability? Contents? The premises has building insurance obviously.

Insurance
Contents yes, make sure it covers digital content also but you may have get a fire safe for backups or have an off site backup.
Liability are you having people come to your office? If so get it. Unless your office is a warehouse you should not need anything extra.
I've always gone with BT as its the "thing" to do, but with the office out back I've gone with Virgin media mainly for the 50mb cable connection

For Internet/Phone line, we went with TalkTalk. We did look at a company called XLN but read quite a number of bad reviews on them. Obviously Internet speed depends entirely on your distance from the exchange but TalkTalk told us we would get a max of 12Mbps but we currently get 18Mbps.
Regarding insurance, yeah, you need contents insurance but wouldn't bother with anything else unless you really need it. I hadn't thought of digital content cover but haven't finalised our insurance yet so will have to enquire about that.

I work for a company called efar who deliver broadband lines and telephony solutions.
The company themselves deliver Network Security solutions, so if you like drop me an email on jdavies@efar.co.uk and I might be able to help you both with something.

There are quite a few good small office insurance packages out there at the moment.
A good package should have Public Liability (£2m or £5m usually) and office contents. Panda is right, make sure you have some cover for your digital content, this will sometimes be under "reconstitution of data" and to watch out for any onerous backup conditions that are in the policy as well. If you go through a broker they will point these out, you need to take a peek if you go direct.
If it doesn't make a material difference to the price then consider a little business interruption insurance. Increased costs of working can be quite effective for small businesses as they can use the costs to get up and running in the event of a disaster and not let any clients down.
If you don't have it, you can always package this type of cover with Professional Indemnity insurance. I have outlined what this covers in other posts so I won't do so again, but in today's climate more useful than ever.

They're part of my ISP and they are very good.
But I don't think you'll get them in Lincolnshire.

Contents insurance, yes. Make sure you check any security requirements they need, usually window locks and the lock on the exit door have special requirements.
You'll need Employers' Liability if you employ anyone to work with you.
